WHITE SUPREMACY

One of the most interesting things about authoring a newsletter is the mail I receive. And I do get mail! A lot of this mail is newsletters. I had no idea there were so many people with so many axes to grind.

I get newsletters that argue for abolition of money as the rot of all misery, newsletters that argue for decentralization of political power, newsletters that demand lower taxes, and newsletters that crusade for a return to constitutional government.

I get Libertarian Party newsletters, tax reform newsletters ... I get newsletters!

Newsletters advocating Accuracy in Media, exposure of conspiracies, support of conservative caucuses, environmental conservation, right to work laws, English as an official language, Save the Whales, Save the Seals, and any ideological concept you can imagine.

This is a healthy sign of the times because almost anyone, with the least of financial resources, can publish their own ideas for the erudition of others. There is this vast and wonderful marketplace where any player can join the action. All you need is ideas and a few dollars.

If your idea has economic value among the populace, money will be thrown at you. Some ideas, however, don't have a money value to many, but have precious and incalculable worth to just a few. Purveyors of news letter ideology must understand that the economic laws that affect the exchange of goods and services are equally at work in the exchange of ideas.

With this in mind, let me share with you excerpts from an unusual newsletter I've received called "Church of the Creator," a white supremist organization from North Carolina.

The "Creator" claims to be the sole unifying voice for the entire white race. According to Creator ... "The Church of the Creator is far and above anything that has ever appeared in the White Man's history. It now has the total answer, the whole ball of wax."

The international banking conspiracy, dominated by "jews," and the subsidy of so called "mud races" are the main enemies.

"Church of the Creator" is indeed a church. It's symbol is a circle with a large "W," atop which is a crown, and then a halo. The "W" obviously stands for White people. The crown represents the "aristocratic" nature of white people, and the halo the mystical sanction of the cause.

Within this framework a mystique of racial identification is advocated. All that is good in the world is a result of the efforts of white men. All that is bad is a result of the "mud" races.

Creator repeatedly argues the point that "Nature herself has established inequality of minds, of character and capacities just as immutably as she has established subordination to her laws. Woe to the species that atempts to flout those laws. Nature punishes such misfits with the ultimate penalty - extinction."

My favorite pastime is analyzing the philosophical premises of ideas. I searched the Creator literature to find a clue as to its ideological foundation.

Creator's authors contend that ...

The ideas of "freedom" and "individualism" are diabolical schemes to confuse white people into intra-racial strife and disorganization.

According to Creator "The only way a man could be FREE would be to live all by himself on a deserted island, like Robinson Crusoe did before his man Friday came along. As soon as even so much as a second person comes into the picture, he is immediately restrained by that person's wants, actions, movements and exercises of HIS 'freedoms'."

The respective "freedoms" of the two persons is seen as a conflict where "either a battle of extermination is enjoined, or they learn to negotiate a certain set of rules whereby the can agree to live peacefully in the same territory."

"Creator" lectures it's followers about the hardships of the hermits life. The hermit would "not have the choice of conversing with his peers; he would have no choice of mating or raising a family, would have no books to read, no baseball games, no opera, no concerts, no cars, no airplanes, no fine housing, a meager choice of food," and a million other deprivations.

Further, "would any general before a life and death battle expound and lecture his soldiers on the boundless virtues of freedom, liberty, license, independence of action and that every man may damn well do as he please in the pursuit of is own whim?"

Creator says "So let us be done with this nonsense about 'freedom,' which, if it is not unlimited is not freedom at all." Creator says that because people have "wants, actions, and movements" individual liberty is not possible.

According to Creator, "The White Race is Nature's Elite. The white race is the Creator of all the great and worthwhile values that have ensued over the last several thousand years."

On the virtues of the white race Creator says "It is characteristic of the White Race to be creative, to explore, to build, to organize, to pursue knowledge and learning, to create civilization, to establish empires, to desire and institute law and order, to have a sense of fair play, to enjoy and appreciate beauty, to create beauty in the form of art, music, architecture, and many other manifestations."

"Niggers, on the other hand, are innately devoid of any of these, and have the brute soul" of a dumb animal."

"Let us again reiterate a basic Credo: We must look at every issue through the eyes of the White Race, from the White Man's point of view. Not through the Jew's eyes, not from the nigger's point of view, not through the serpant's eyes - but exclusively from the White Man's point of view." (Capitals in the original.)

The reader is implored to join the Church of the Creator and organise. But there is a catch ... "In order to organise and unite, we have to subordinate our ideas of unbridled freedom and individualism for the general good of the White Race."

Lastly, in very large and bold print the reader is given these gems of wisdom:

"There is a point at which tolerance ceases to be a virtue and becomes criminal negligence, and compassion towards the mud races becomes racial treason. The White Race has now gone far beyond those limits."

"In order to survive, we must learn to think in terms of: To hell with the niggers! To hell with the Jews!"

COMMENTARY

The main ideological premise of the Creators is that "nature has established inequality of minds, of character and capacities..."

This obvious fact can hardly be argued. There is a wide range of inequities among men. Some are more intelligent than others, some have more character and capacities than others. The question is ... are these inequities distributed along racial lines? Do the "mud races" have less character? Are "Jews" less intelligent?

For the Creators to argue that Jews are sub-intelligent in one breath, and are responsible for an international banking conspiracy in the next is inconsistent. A high degree of cunning is necessary to create and maintain economic control over all economic matters of society.

Creator's arguments resemble the propaganda of warmongerers.

Church of the Creator wrings its hands over the concept of freedom. According to Creator if freedom is not absolute and total then it is nonexistent. Freedom is not freedom if it is limited and defined.

When Creator describes freedom and individualism as the life of a hermit the whole attack against liberty fails. Individualism cannot be practiced by a hermit. The whole of individualism is premised upon peaceful interactions among people.

Bad ideas have a way of reappearing in new forms. It seems just yesterday that in another land there was a charismatic leader urging Germans to re-embrace their racial soul, to organize, to forsake silly ideas of individualism and liberty in order to promote the common good. How can we be so repetitive in our blunders?

Church of the Creator will test your mettle as a libertarian thinker. Obviously, if political supremacy were achieved by the Creators there would be racial wars. But let's forget political arrangements for a moment and consider what a free society could offer these people? Where would they fit in? How could they fit in?

If the supremists wish to live their lives in racially segregated conformity, then let them do so peacefully, on their own land and at their own expense. If you arrive at the gates of the Creators and are turned away because of your ethnic nature or the company you keep, then respect their rights to their property, however irrational their exclusionary policies seem to be.

Other communities will act more in keeping with economic reality and will trade and mingle with anyone who offers marketplace bargains. This is a much better yardstick with which to measure the worth of men. Are the inhabitants of an area anxious to serve you or do they distort peaceful economic exchanges with ethnic or other prejudicial manipulations?

Church of the Creator has given much empetus for thought.
